Setting your services, prices and how long each takes

Updated 10 September 2026·2 min read

The job lengths you set are what the delay alerts run on, so they are worth getting roughly right.

When you pick your trade at sign up, Callout fills your list with the usual jobs for it. Change anything, delete what you do not do, add what is missing. It is your list.

Find it in Settings, Services and prices.

How long a job takes

This is the one field worth thinking about, because it does more than fill the diary. It is what tells Callout a job has run over, which is what triggers the alert to your next client.

Set it to how long the job actually takes you, not how long you wish it took. If your full service is realistically 90 minutes, put 90. A number that is too optimistic means Callout thinks you are running late every single day.

You do not have to guess forever. Insights has a card called Job length against your estimates that compares what you booked to what you actually took, and offers to correct the number for you.

How it is priced

Three ways, set per service:

  • Fixed price. The client sees the price and books.
  • From this price. The client sees an estimate, books, and you confirm the real figure on the day. Good for anything where parts or condition change the number.
  • Quote only. No price and no calendar slot. The client sends details and photos, and it lands in your inbox as a lead for you to price.

From and Quote only are on the paid plans. On Free a service saves as a fixed price instead, so you do not lose the rest of your edits.

Reminding a client it is due again

Each service has a Remind them it is due again setting: never, monthly, up to every two years. An MOT is a year by law. A valet is whatever you think is right for your clients, which is why this is yours to set rather than ours. See reminding a client that a service is due.
