Choosing your store link, and changing it later
The one address you give out. How to pick it, and what happens if you change your mind.
Your store link is the address clients use to book you. It looks like callout.store/dave-mobile, and it is the only thing you need to hand out: put it in your Instagram bio, on the van, on a card.
Picking one
You choose it during sign up. As you type, Callout checks whether it is free and tells you straight away, and suggests something close if it has gone.
The rules, so nothing surprises you:
- Between 3 and 32 characters
- Lowercase letters, numbers and hyphens
- No hyphen at the start or end, and no double hyphens
- Spaces and accents are converted for you as you type
Some words are kept back because they would look like Callout speaking rather than you: help, support, billing, admin and similar.
What makes a good one
Your business name if it is short. Your name and your trade if it is not. dave-mobile beats daves-mobile-mechanics-south-london, because somebody is going to read it out over the phone.
Changing it
You can change it later in Settings, under Your storefront. Two things to know:
- Your old link keeps working for 90 days and quietly forwards to the new one, so a card you handed out last month still gets somebody to you.
- You can change it twice in a rolling month. That is deliberate: a link that keeps moving is a link nobody can rely on.
If somebody copies your page
Every storefront has a small Report this page link at the bottom. If you find a page pretending to be your business, use it. The report goes to us, not to them, and you do not need an account to send one.
Tell us what happened. You will need to be signed in so we can see your account.
