Putting Callout on your phone, and turning on alerts
Why the home screen step matters on iPhone, and what reaches you when.
Callout is a website, not an app store download, so there is nothing to install in the usual sense. But adding it to your home screen is worth two minutes.
On iPhone
Alerts only reach an iPhone if the page was added to the home screen from Safari, using Share, then Add to Home Screen. A bookmark will not do it, and Chrome on iPhone cannot do it at all. That is Apple's rule, not ours.
- Open your Callout page in Safari
- Tap the share button, the box with the arrow
- Scroll to Add to Home Screen, tap it, tap Add
- Open Callout from the new icon, and allow notifications when asked
On Android
Chrome usually offers to install it on its own. If it does not, use the three dots menu, then Install app or Add to Home screen.
What actually reaches you
Being straight about this, because it affects how you work:
- In the app: everything. The delay prompt appears the moment a job runs over.
- By email: the backup, so nothing is silently lost.
- A notification to a closed phone: not yet. Alerts today reach you when Callout is open. Until that changes, treat the app as the place you check between jobs rather than something that will always tap you on the shoulder.
You can redo the install step any time from Settings, Alerts.
